propane motorcycle
Yes. I am going to convert my vtx 1300 and ford ranger to run on propane. I have a test cb750 motorcycle engine that is running on propane on the engine stand. Working out some bugs and learning via trial and error. Thought I would share a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&...

Re: Shhh...
So where are you getting Propane for $.69/gal? Local distributor. I get huge volume discount since I have a 3,000 gallon tank and buy 2,500 gal at a time. The price also includes a $0.50 per gal fed tax credit for transportation lpg or cng. Lpg is actually cheaper than cng. No expensive tank, high ...

Re: Shhh...
Yes, it was built to be a high compression torque build...and the hope was that it'd be a fuel economy build too. Unfortunately, the fuel economy isn't as good as I'd hoped. It's not horrible, it's just not as good as the 302. I'm getting 21.5 MPG on the daily drive. Add to that, this engine requir...

Re: recommendations for THICK head gaskets
5.315 rod might allow me to add a Turbo... I built the engine more than 5 years ago. Back then there were not many options for the 347 pistons...

Re: recommendations for THICK head gaskets
These heads are the 210cc that had some light porting to get to 217 CC. That makes these the 60 CC chamber. Probe pistons I believe that they are 4cc http://www.probeindustries.com/Ford_347_4_0cc_Flat_Top_FPS_Pistons_p/p3471f.htm Engine was originally built for drag. I did have 250 shot and removed ...

Re: recommendations for THICK head gaskets
Also that can was designed for drag. The truck has a tyranny break and I think a 3800-4000 stall. I know it is all wrong for street. Planning on swapping the came. I think I have a comp 268h can on my shelf. Truck currently has tunnel ram with 2 600 edelbrock. I think I currently have the secondarie...

Re: recommendations for THICK head gaskets
It was a custom comp cam grind. I called them and gave them the specs of the engine and truck. This was several years ago. I just have not driven much since I got into motorcycles. Since I last worked on the truck I have acquired 5 bikes and I am currently building a 70 cb750 sohc with 836 pistons, ...

Re: recommendations for THICK head gaskets
Stock type felpro gasket
60cc head
5.4 rod
I can't remember if it was zero or negative to compensate for crush thickness.
Cam. I'll have to look up what is in it now. It was a comp custom grind but now I believe it is a comp 268h.

recommendations for THICK head gaskets
I want to reduce my cr. Its currently 347 probe pistons and pro comp alum heads. Block was zero decked and I believe .020 removed. I am looking to make it more streetable. Guess that might include a locker instead of the spool and less converter but that comes later.

this summer I plan to retool the 347 ranger
I am not certain what I plan to do but I do intend on driving it again.. I just have a few more projects to wrap up before I start on the ranger again. on a side note. I built a hot tank vat for my personal shop. That is a 391 from a 40' bluebird bus. http://s118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/imabass/...

Re: Really bad engine sludge
I have seen this before in my old F150. When i bought the truck it say for 10+ years. It was caked on everywhere. I drove it for about 20K miles and had no clue but when I opened it up for upgrade I was floored. It was caked on everywhere. I suspect that this car has same issue. I have heard of runn...

Re: Anybody considering CNG conversions, check what I found
I'll find out where the tanks are from. He said that it was type 2, new, and 6.2 gal equilvant. He is also considering converting his school bus conversion to CNG. I guess the massive tanks are cheaper and would be way too big for small cars and trucks. As far as the kits go. I don't think it would ...

Re: Inner cylinders rich, outer cylinders lean??
I mixed up a set of lifters once. I guarantee I will never make that mistake again. Destroyed the cam. Chewed it all to hell. I disassembled just to make sure i got all the shavings out. It is very possible that the push rods got bent from too much spring pressure and not having the correct lenght (...

Re: Anybody considering CNG conversions, check what I found
My brother is looking into a CNG conversion. He bought a tank and is buying a conversion kit from somewhere outside the US. Something like $450 for the kit to retrofit the fuel injection. The tank was purchased from china. Something like $180 shipped. He mentioned that some DIY are using scuba tank ...
