Re: roller lifter

I was very surprised not to find a bad lifter. The noise seam to go with the rotation on the valve train. Let me ask you all this. I have a friend that has offered to give me a motor, but, its a 1995 and mine is a 1998. Is the block the same?? I know I would have to change the heads, intake and oil ...

Re: roller lifter

Well my worst fear came true. Rockers, push rods and lifters all looked good, so motor is toast.... So its got to be a wrist pin... Time to find a truck... Its so hard to find something used around here that's not all rusted out.. got to love NY and there infatuation with salt... I hate vehicle shop...

Re: roller lifter

The wrist pin is what i'm thinking also.. It seams to go with the rotation of the cam. You can feather the gas to a point it will go away. It doesn't get louder on acceleration, just faster. I am going to take the intake off today and start checking rockers, push rods and lifters. I'm hoping its top...

Re: roller lifter

Its EFI.. I did pull the valve covers and didn't see any rocker problems. But of course you can't run it because the plenum had to be taken off to get to them.. All rockers where tight and didn't notice any bent push rods, but i didn't remove each one. I figured if it was a rod or main bearing i wou...

Re: roller lifter

Mine is definitely more than just a tick. it is a knockish noise, but when you give it gas it doesn't get louder, like a bad rod or main would, the noise gets faster. That's why i'm thinking its valve trane. I am dreading taking it apart. I'm afraid i wont find a bad roller and end up having to pull...

roller lifter

Has anyone ever had a problem with the roller part of the roller lifter going bad on them??? I think I might have had one go bad in my Mountaineer. It started making a knocking and lifter noise when I was coming home from the lake last week, still have good oil pressure. I was pulling the boat and w...

Re: Fuel pressure regulator

I don't know what year your truck is but some of the older ones ran two pumps, I know mine did, the one in the tank was more of a pickup pump and the one on the frame was the pressure pump. I left the one in my tank and still use it as a pickup pump and then changed the pump on the frame to a high v...

Re: oil filter relocation question

thats what i was thinking. out of motor in to filter, and out of filter in to motor. thats the way it was hooked up. but i just wanted to make sure i had it right. i would think it would have caused some problems with the filter or oil pressure if it was hooked up wrong and I didnt have any problems...

Re: 1990 5.0 Lincoln town car motor&trans swap into 97 range

The town cars where a NON HO motor. They also have different pistons than an HO motor and the intake plenum are backwards, They point to the drivers side and the HO's point to the passenger. They are still a roller motor though and the both use the same block. I think the difference is about 40 hors...

Re: Cam lift

Thank you for all the info.. Heads will have to wait for now.. If money wasn't a problem I would get heads you have recommended. Like I said before, I can only afford one melt down at a time right now.. So for now the heads I have will have to do.. Unless I hit the lottery, but you have to play in o...

Re: Cam lift

I would love to put a new and better set of heads on it, but I can only afford one melt down at a time. I wasn't planning having to replace the whole motor. I did go looking on e-bay just for chits and giggles and came across these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191362802868?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2648&a...

Re: Cam lift

Well I have the next 5 months to decide what I want to do. Truck is parked for the winter anyway. Sooner than I wanted it to be as the snow and salt haven't even hit the roads yet, but spun a rod bearing on number 6 that forced me to pull the motor last month. That's why I decided to just get an alr...
