Re: Cam lift
Yes, 1.6 is what I am running. I do have a set of 1.7 roller rockers. Those cams don't seam all that different than what I am running now. I don't know much if anything about the numbers on cams, but comparing those to what I have, doesn't seam like its worth spending the money for something I may n...

Re: Cam lift
Ok, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I found two cams with that number, but, they have two different lifts. one is 512 the other is 544.. And what kind of idle does that cam have? I know, to some people that's not important, but I like the loppy idle...

Re: Cam lift
My choices in pistons where stock and hypereutectic. I haven't CC'd the heads, don't know how to. I don't ever get that technical.. Maybe I should, I have all winter to do this.. I just want a cam that's better than what I have now. the mid and top end drop off. I'm not worried so must about top end...

Re: Cam lift
I dont take it to the track, but its not a daily driver either. Its just a fun truck. Im looking for something that will give me good mid range power. Im getting a new remaned block, bored 40 over with hypereutectic pistons, the rest will stay the same thats in my signature. The cam thats in the mot...

Cam lift
Is this to much lift for my setup, 5.0HO with GT-40 heads, ( Lift w/ 1.6 rocker (intake/exhaust) .542"/.563" ). Will the valves hit the pistons?

Re: how much boost??
The only time it cuts out is above 4500 rpm's which I dont do hardly at all.. Its not a daily driver. I dont think I put 1000 miles a year on it.. I do plan on changing the pump, but right now having to put money into my boat has put my truck on the back burner. if it was a daily driver then I would...

Re: New Guy with an 83' V8 Ranger
I went to the junk yard and pulled a few different color gears out of some transmission's till I got one that made the spedo right. Its still fast by about 5mph at highway speeds.. close enough for me.. I just have to remember that truck is fast, Mountaineer is slow, ( 31-10.50 Made it slow )

Re: how much boost??
Went to a 3 1/2 inch pulley. So far so good.. Boost comes in much sooner now. Getting 5psi at 3500rpm's. Not sure what the max is yet, fuel pump wont keep up with this pulley once It gets up around 4500 rpm's, built in governor I guess, lol.... Maybe that's not a bad thing.. Haven't found a pump yet...

Re: Ranger Drag Trucks
I have never taken my truck to the track.. I have no clue what it will do in the 1/4.. I'm lucky if I put 2000 miles a year on it..

Re: how much boost??
Well the pulley didn't end up fitting my supercharger.. Guess the Novi and SN 92 are not the same pulleys.. Maybe that's a sign not to get that small of a pulley...

Re: how much boost??
the guy said he was getting about 14 pounds of boost. I dont know what his setup is. i am getting about 6psi at 4500rpm's on the 4" pully. this one is 3 1/4. Dont know if I will be getting the same boost as he was or not..? Dont know if he was running EFI or carb and how much that makes a diffe...

Re: how much boost??
High RPM's will never be the problem.. I don't go over 5000... Thank you all for the info... Couldn't cancel the bid and didn't get out bid, so I guess I own the smaller pulley anyway....
