Re: Subtle differences in the V8 Explorer over the years

I can sure believe that the oil cooler was a regional thing or maybe what was in stock. Still wondering about this motor I have and the harnees I have here. Return fuel system (shows as a 98), has the three pin connector for the CPS (That looks to be from a couple of years but the wiring diagram say...

Re: Subtle differences in the V8 Explorer over the years

Ran across another thing that might be a difference. Someone on TRS said that in '99' they dropped the oil cooler. This made me go out in the garage. Thought one of the spares I have stached away was a '99' cause it had the six wire plug for the MAF. Looked around for the fuel rails and remembered I...

Re: low boost dyno run

I just saw this at RPS and I remembered the truck and the build. That turbo tubing was really nice. You had some earlier pictuers under the hood before the tubros and a couple of strip runs. Remember that I believe you put a 3.8 into a tractor. Haven't ween you around for awhile. Did'nt get that lin...

Re: 98 Ranger. Looking for a V8 swap, anyone done A AWD swap

Gabe, that is one sharp looking Stang! That Ranger looks identical to the one I had down to the paint and blue strip. Had the similar problem with power, think a lot of it was due to the 3.45 geared rear end, Great truck in town. Someone else did the AWD swap in theirs, took only a week total to com...

Re: 98 Ranger. LOOKING FOR A V8 SWAP, ANYONE DONE A AWD SWA

Welcome Gabe. Like Chris says, best to stay 4x2. Too much difference in the front suspensions, onw being coils and the Explorer being torsion bar. There are some 4x2 Explorers out there but rare up here if you want to stay auto. For a manual, I'd stay away from the T-Bird because of the torque ratin...

Re: Who's good at math and spread sheets?

Chris, Finally had some time to get back to that spread sheet. Was blessed with five days of great weather and had a lot to do to get ready for winter, big yard and the leaves were starting to drift. Thanksgiving was 60 but Friday morning had that white curse on the ground. Went back and made the sp...

Re: little help with the accessories

Grumpy gives me too much credit, only thought I had was to gut the compressor. I know you're on at TRS also and this was just posted by SVTranger. Passing it along to others that might have the same question later. " You can just delete the ac compressor and short belt it. You will need a 830k6...

Who's good at math and spread sheets?

Think I found some good info on what hp requirements there are based on speed, weight and frontal area. I assumed a drag cooeffience of .44 whick is common for a small truck. Lets you see why without enough hp, you hit the brick wall, the limit of speed.

Re: motor mount plates for 2000 coil suspension??

I wonder if anybody has done a new 5.0L swap in a Ranger yet? All the vehicles with those engines are probably too new and likely still under original warranty. My guess is it'll be a few years before we see transplanted "new" 5.0s in anything. But that would be a neat project for whoever...

Teddy, think you made your first mistake of the decade. Went over to RPS looking for more info and found the correct contact is "Strada Shop". Don't make a habit of this!

Re: motor mount plates for 2000 coil suspension??

The torson bar suspensions of the Explorer & Ranger are level while the coil spring Rangers have a difference in frame heights side to side.

Re: motor mount plates for 2000 coil suspension??

I'd be careful about dropping the motor from where these plate put it. All the Explorer's with SBF's have used flat plates with no problems. I think over 50 people have used the plates as above with no problems. Dropping it , you will find out some interference somewhere, fan shroud comes to mind as...
