Topic: What are the T56 issues during V8 Conversion?

I was thinking about that. A wide ratio T56 with 3.27s would work fine, but to really take advantage of the 6th gear, I'd keep a 3.73:1 RE and get the even more expensive close ratio T56. This setup would give me a normal range of final ratios from 1-5 similar to a T5 with 3.27s, then an additional ...

I see what you mean. I agree, the bolt-on kind is better than the spin-on style. I can see how the spin-on kind may not line the hoses up right and thus you have to route the hoses in a less-than-desirable fashion. To get a neater installation, I may break down and get that piece. However, I like yo...

That's about the price of the adapter I found. However the link I followed didn't have a picture. It just said "no image."

I'm not quite sure it's worth 3 times what the TD one is, but at least there are options.

Thanks Malcolm.

I looked on the site and searched for "oil filter adapter" and it returned a number of hits, but it didn't have pictures/images for most of what returned. The ones that looked like they could be the flat 90° flat-adapters weren't cheap. I guess that's to be expected for a higher quality pr...

MAF computers aren't created equal. Why?

Through email, Dave and I were discussing why the Explorer V8s are down on power despite the good heads and intake. Dave seemed to believe this was because of crappy exhaust manifolds (and I fully agree) and a "lame" computer. I also suspect the cam has a lot to do with this as well. Howev...

blk, I didn't know that. However it makes a lot of sense and seems like it would simplify things. Is it just me or are there very few V8 conversions on extended cab Rangers? I can't recall a picture yet of a V8 converted Supercab. Other than weight distribution issues, is there any reason why that i...

What are the T56 issues during V8 Conversion?

Dave and I were throwing questions back and forth (more me asking and him answering) via email however I wanted to get some feedback from others that may have some experience. What I'm comparing is either a T5 or T56. The T5 appears simpler to me just because I know (from Malcolm's site) which bell ...

That's exactly what I needed. That'll save me a few dollars for sure. Those kits that include the 90° adapter aren't usually cheap. I called a TransDapt dealer and they sell the part for $18.99+tx. That ain't bad for a specialty part. But I have to agree, it's not as pretty as the L&L adapter. O...

I paid the extra dollar for the 2-ton stand not to mention it was onsale in the Harbor Freight store for just a few dollars higher than the 750lb stands. However I found out why the engine is sagging...yet again, I feel like an idiot. To give you the mental picture, I'm probably going to tell you wh...

Regarding the L&L (or anybody elses) 90° Oil Filter Adapter, I already have an oil filter relocation kit on my truck. All I really need is the adapter. I don't need the hoses, the other end of the adapter kit that holds the filter or of the fittings. All I need is the piece that fits against the...

That's sortof what I suspected. It does look thick through the center, and I do plan on using aftermarket mounts to get the engine as low as possible. Currently, it's such a pain to get the top 2 bolts of my 5-speed tranny. That's mainly because the tranny is also the bellhousing so you are trying t...

I got a set of 4 grade 8, 7/16"-14pitch-3.5"Long. Worked without a problem. The engine's now on the stand. It's a 2 ton stand which should be more than plenty stout to handle a 302, but the engine sure sags at a downward angle. I guess it's to be expected. Dave, thanks again for the quick ...

That was quick...Talk about service. That's good info knowing that the block is still standard sizes. I'll pick up some bolts that fit in a 7/16"-14. Thanks. For the record Malcolm, your forum kicks ass. I never could've dreamed of getting the level of expereince and knowledge on my own that I'...
