Re: dist. gear

Roller motors. even those not HO, use the steel gear while flat tappet use a cast iron gear. The bronze gear is used mostly for racing, wears down too fast for the street. Be sure to compare the location of the gear and other lengths on the new HEI with the existing unit for differences. Know of som...

Re: Subtle differences in the V8 Explorer over the years

I've actually seen the cam sensor both ways on a '98', one has two wires vs three. Rockauto sells both for that year. Think the external difference is a ground. Had to explain why and when some things changed other than Ford was getting rid of an obsolete motor and parts.

Chris, I used to have your address but lost in computer crash. Now it asks me to establish an account with Microsoft.

Re: I have a motor mounts question.

If you have the torsion front suspension, the stock Explorer mounts are the ones to use. Coil suspension is different again. I have prints of what the ones are needed for the coil front, have to dig them up and post later. Dave Tried to upload them but failed. Best to just PM me your e-mail and I'll...

Re: I have a motor mounts question.

I think a lot use the convert mounts also, might be cheaper. Chris is right on the later Rangers, they are different.

Re: I have a motor mounts question.

This guy has mounts for your application $75.00 inc shipping josephhighlen@yahoo.com send him an email. I had mine pronto! Carefully check the passenger side for clearance. Some people have had problems, I told him before he built he last bunch that the bend was in the wrong direction but he went a...

Re: I have a motor mounts question.

I'm glad you brought that up Chris. Two kinds of oil pans for the Explorer, one is the cast alum and the other one is stamped steel. The alum one works on both but the metal one only on the coil spring one. Chris, you remember you also had to change your bolts when you did your. Mustang dual sumps m...

Re: I have a motor mounts question.

Flat plates are the only that work in the later Rangers. Be careful of which plates & drawings you use. Lots of people have used the Mustang mounts or those from Summit/Jegs or L & L but those only work on the earlier trucks. I've got some that were designed by an engineer at Ford to work on...

Re: 69 GT 500

That's a Ford guy's dream. Amazing the cars still tucked away and showing up now and then. There was another Shelby going up for auction but no way nice as this one. Another resent find was a super rare GT-40, rare even for a GT-40. Hot Rod magazine has a spot every month where they show what one gu...

Re: how much boost??

Just looked thru three different Mustang sites any seems like 450 hp safe, 500+ getting iffy and 600 hp not for long. Saw some great examples of them splitting right down the middle. Boost was about 8-9 as the limit, some turbo sites went a bit higher,

Mike, a lot of guys just get a SCT and so it themselves. I do know of a guy out in Colorado that does it for $200+. He can change all the perameters you want.

Re: Insturment Cluster Compatbility??

Welcome! No problem at all swapping the dashes, hard part is just getting them out, plug and play. Got a good pictorial instruction on the install. Never heard about having to swap tank sensors. They both run on the same pressure, 56-72 psi and I believe the same output. Dave Found the site:http://w...

No idea here but I do see that FAST system used a lot in car magazines. Beware of the ads though, they always make it sound so simple.

Re: haudraulic slave kit... all in one ....

First problem is that the '95' and newer Ranger have a master that mounts to the clutch petal bracket, not flat against the firewall. Only one like what the Rangers need is the earlier one with an angled mounting plate and modified bracket, TeddyZee has good pictures. That brings up the next questio...
