These designs originally came from a Ford engineer and these are what Ford used in their protype Ranger V-8 swap. Step is in there to keep the motor level.

Re: 99 Ranger/Explorer
It's the 97-older that are generally easier isn't it? All 97-older have steering boxes & coil spring. Newer Ranger's have rack-n-pinion & torsion bar suspensions. Those are probably the biggest structural and fitment differences between the two. But then there are less obvious details that ...

Re: 99 Ranger/Explorer
No big difference in those years, it's the pre'98 that are a lot different.

Re: 99 Ranger/Explorer
With the Ranger being a 4x4 makes it a lot easier as well does it being that yaer of Ranger and Explorer. Going to a part time has been many times also, just can't remember what xfer case was used, the 205 or 208.

Re: New Mustang!
Wow very nice. What made you pick the Roush over the 2013 SVT? It was close on which but really liked the handling on the last Roush. Price was about the same, big difference in power. These will run right with the big ones on a road course. These new ones are a big jump ahead of the old ones. If I...

New Mustang!
Just last Thursday picked up a new 2013 Roush Stage 3. Wow - what a difference from my '07'. Got the new 5.0 with the TVS blower, 3.73 L/S rear, bigger brakes and the six speed. 565 hp rating and got 21+ mpg on a road trip this weekend. Some of these things that come right off the show room floor ha...

Re: 2011 GT500 build
I've been watching and following, wating for some results. What you reported doesn't sound good. Last month I had my 4.6 with the forged bottom and the 2300 TVS (stock heads, exhaust manifolds and cams) dyno'd and had 503 rwhp. Only running 15 lbs boost and the really mild Roush tune. You put a lot ...

Re: Tri y headers
You might have one of the large C-4 bellhousings that take the 164T flexplate. That might be the problem. The 157T housing is 5 7/8" deep while the 164T is 6 1/4" deep.

Looking good Grumpy. How is that 8.8 going to fit under this truck? Know you said problems with the other truck. Thanks for sending your weather up this way, it sucks! The rain is nice but too hot this early in the year.

Re: 99 Ranger 2.5 camshaft?
I had a '98' 2.5L manual that was great in town but out on the road into a stiff wind, it would top out at 72 mph. Took a look and it only had the 3.45 gear in it when a 4.10 would have been much better. Them little motors like to rev. I have no problem with either of my 3.0L motors getting up and m...

Porting the Explorer intake
I know that Tom Moss used to be the expert and had a good web site, been down for a long time. Finally got one off a spare motor and wondering how hard to do, what all involved. Don't think he did much to them but made them better.

Must be the "other" Dave. I'll put my thinking cap on and see what I come up with. Going to be way too hot to do much outside today.
