Re: Axles

I wouldn't get all worried about not having the 31 spline either. Even most 390 powered Fords ran them and they had a lot more torque. I wouldn't worry about the slight width difference either, Pontiac GTO's bragged about that fact in having a wider track. I think Crhis might have had problems with ...

the place does go quiet sometimes. Too cold to go outside, hate even walking down to the mailbox. Been collecting all my parts for projects in a central location in spare room in basement. Got a bunch.

How about a quick rundown on what you are all running, computer and sensors and such. Sure someone will have an idea.

Re: Mechanical fuel pump?

Some people say sometimes the stock standard one will work, depends on too many things to tell for sure.
The inverted pump you need is from a 70-74 Econoline. Think the NAPA part is BSHN6813. Best to take a picture of what tht L&L pump looks like for comparison.

Re: To pull and sell or not

Chris, like I said, been looking at the vary same timing cover. Lots of suppliers have them for half that price or places like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Timing-Cover-RF-F87E-6059-AA-OEM-302-Mustang-Explorer-Saleen-GT-NEW-/321053675357?hash=item4ac04a4f5d&item=321053675357&pt=Motors_C...

Re: To pull and sell or not

I was just thinking about the front brackets, think Grumpy was looking for some, know others do not have good access to them. Seen people wanting close to $200 for them at other sites. Even the oil pans from them for the later swaps, Mustang double sumps don't alway work. Exhaust manifolds if they a...

Re: Big front brakes

I think the project gets kind of involved and not one a lot tackle. What year do you have? Can upgrade from 2000 to the 2003 by swaping spindles and such. Not a big gain that I think is worth it. Better quality in rotors and pads is probably more bang for the bucks.

Re: Explorer v8 accessory drive

I believe the actual length of the two bolts required is 5 7/8", too cold here to pull mine but I have the 1" manifold spacer with bolts, that's how I came up with measurement.
Chris - the balance for the 351 has always been 28 oz

I'm too of course, another one with a big thanks for the site. I know we have all learned a lot from here, met some good internet friends. I do wish you would at least ask for a small donation to help support the site. You've been doing this for a long time especially including the first site, all w...

Re: MERRY CHRISTMAS

Thanks Larry! We have changed our celebration up here in the last couple of years. No young kids under 30, just us "mature" people. Don't even do gifts usually, we need something, we go out and buy it. Dad is gone and Mom is 93 and in a home. Did have a nice get together and dinner. We ado...

Thanks for that! Never fond of using a table saw. Glad it was his finger in the test and not mine. Amazing what people come up with.

Re: Anyone completely removed the PCV system before?

Closest think I can think of is the cars before emmisions, used what was called a "road draft tube.
Usually mounted on the back of the intake manifold and the tube went down below the engine. End of it was cut as to suck the fumes from the crank case area. Goes back before '66' in Cal.

Re: 98 Ranger. Looking for a V8 swap, anyone done A AWD swap

The main problems with a '98' would be the fuel system and source of speed signal. The '98' Explorer has a supply and return line and runs on a pressure of 35-45 psi while the Ranger runs a returnless system at 56-72 psi. The Explorer gets its speed signal from the tran while the ranger gets its fro...
