I am wanting to some how some way put a set of Roush Mustang brake rotors and calipers on my 1985 Ford Ranger. Is there anyone out there that knows if this can be done?

I have been planning this for over a year. Some stuff to consider/look for.
'95 to '97 (last 3 years of the twin I beam) have a bolt on 2 piston caliper. This opens up the rotor diameter options. Using either the stock 2 piston caliper spaced out or an aftermarket caliper, either WILL require custom brackets to hold it in place.
Reverse engineering the rotors a little will tell you the old mustang trick for 5 lug axles is to use ranger rotors that have had a hair trimmed off the outer diameter. So large diameter mustang rotors should work. But large diameter pre SN95 rotors are hard to come by. Another option is to have the existing rotors turned down so the newer style rotor can be slid over the lugs.
Then the latest I have hears is that '96 to '01 (or so) Explorers have larger brakes that will bolt onto the rangers as well.
Good luck...

racin ranger will sell the parts to convert. you still need calipers and rotors. i think you need 95+ spindles too.

this question has come up already about my buddys ranger,i have thought of a plan i am waiting for Chris to get me a i beam spindle to try .I have thought of making a piece of plate shaped to were the inbaord pad slides in ,next there will be a piece of plat that fastens to it with the bolt hole for the calioers to go to it .I already know what some of you are thinking but what about the mounting pads for the original, mill them off and tig weld the new piece the goal will be to use 88-94 grand marquis or crown victoria i was told they use 11 and bigger rotors,i would use the actual caliper bracket from the same as well.First things first .1-wait for the spindle 2-wait the wife to go to work so i can use the kitchen table -still not moving well enough 3- and most important wait till the kids go to school. This project has been on my mind for a while.Be patient i will be posting pics and trial and error will come into play but i think i have a pretty soild plan..
