Forged Pistons

Post by Dave »

Did any of the 302/5.0's, HO's or Cobra's, come with forged pistons? Just trying to check out what I think is some more mis-info I ran across.

Not to add to the mis information out there but I thought pre 94/95 Stangs had forged pistons? I don't know how far back though. The reason I say this is because when I had my 95 GT and I was looking at supercharging it I was browsing the forums researching it and I found a lot of posts claiming the 94/95 302 motors couldn't handle as much boost in stock form as the earlier models because they had switched to cast pistons in 94 implying the prior year(s) where forged.

Let us know what you find out

they stopped the forged pistons in 94 due to customers complaints about "knocking" noises during start up and the ability to be able to use tighter piston to wall clearences for better emmisions and oil control

Thanks, looks you both came up with the same answer, somewhat.
