Name the V-8!
Fun little game I got from my Fairlane site. I got 14 out of the 18, should have done better!

I wasn't nearly that good. But then again, I'd never seen some of those motors. I found it quite informative...especailly the trivia details. My feedback at the end was to include more trivia about each.

Hey Kliff, a big welcome from another "Old Phart". Retired in Oct but they keep bringing be back on OT, no time for the fun projects.kliff wrote:18 out of 18....cool game! Ole pharts rule... LOL
But if it hadn't been multiple choice, probably would have been more like 16 or 17 out of 18. I got lucky on at least 1 or 2.
In that test, I wish they would have thrown in this motor in the flathead section, any ideas? First use of ceramic coated exhaust that I know of, a real deep blue/purple almost. I had one in the car a couple of years ago.

Kliff,
Damn good without a multiple guess, you get a "A" plus, correct on all points. Mine was a '37' LaSalle. "Gee, our old LaSalle ran great", Archie and Edith Bunker.

Those are some of the toughest engines I've ever seen. After WWII, and into the 60's there was a salvage yard in Savannah that sorta speciallized in military surplus engines. A freind of Dad's bought on of those flatties, and put it in a '37 Chevy truck, about '48...last time I saw it was in '70, still going, over a quarter million miles of service work, "in town" driving.
I've seen Allisons, RR Merlins, the La Salles, jeep 4 bangers....in and out the cans, stacked 20' high, end to end 100 yards deep x 100yards wide at different times. All on its way to the shreader and recycling. But at the same time, every single one was for sale, scrap weight price + something like a 5 or 10.00 handling charge to load it on your truck... Sadly, construction in the 70's, and a cross town "parkway" necessitated a sale of the property to the city, and it is all gone....
Dad nor I either one, ever thought of buying any of them, for our own private little stash...dammit!
PS...Thanks for the A+ rating!
