cobra brakes
what is needed and involved in doing a cobra brake swap?

Re: cobra brakes
Ok, I have done this once before on a 97.
You need the 89 up beams and 95 and up spindles. Then you of course need the rotors and calipers.
These are the brackets that you will need. I will be ordering a set soon for the front of my 84. Really nice group of people to work with.

Re: cobra brakes
Mustang. The kit comes with the bracket for the Cobra caliper and a new hub that accepts the Cobra calipers. You have to use 95-97 spindles.

Re: cobra brakes
Yeah, you use the big cobra calipers and rotors. It is a really sweet setup when you get it all done. Pair that with the disc brake explorer rear and you are good to go.

Re: cobra brakes
So the 95+ Ranger front spindles will hold a Cobra rotor?

Re: cobra brakes
But the calipers and rotors will be super cheap...which were the biggest investment that we had on the one that we did.

Re: cobra brakes
Is that a standard rotor or a specially made rotor just for Ranger to Cobra Caliper conversions??? If it's proprietary, that would shy me away from doing that setup. On a daily driven vehicle, rotors need to be turned, wear out, and are a common maintenance component. I don't want to be leashed to a proprietary source for things like rotors.Foxracin wrote:With the hub that comes in the brake swap kit.cgrey8 wrote:So the 95+ Ranger front spindles will hold a Cobra rotor?

Re: cobra brakes
Looking at that link posted above it appears all you get in that kit is a caliper mounting bracket and a set of hubs. The rotors and calipers are probably the standard Mustang pieces.

Re: cobra brakes
I was used to the hub and rotor being the same thing. So does that mean Cobra rotors are floating rotors?
