How did you get that upper intake so clean? It looks polished in one of the pics. You do that yourself?

It looks like silver spray paint. I used something similar on my Explorer accessory brackets back when I was doing the original V8 conversion. It cleaned them up from tarnished dull stock brackets to shiny brackets that looked polished.

No paint was used on intake it's polished out lots of sanding starting with an 80 grit and working up to 320 n higher then polish it to a shine.

Got a question on the motor mounts you used, Strada Shop correct? How much did you have to raise the passenger side for clearance? I think there might have been a mistake (mine) converting Brian B's original design to what Strada used. I've tried contacting him with no sucess. Think a flat plate and minimum spacing would have raised the motor just fine.

Chris.... i bet you used that Dupli Color Wheel Paint ... b4 my engine goes in to the 96 ... and b4 i put the heads back on it .... im goin to blast all my alum brackets and all.. then use that Wheel Paint to paint them up with... .. that paint looks GOOD if done correctly too !!!!! i painted my water pump with it ... there is a pic of it online somewhere in all those other pix i posted up .. plus i painted my stock valve covers with it also so i know ya will be able to see it in in a few mpix ... but ill be using alum heads this time... and custom fabbed polished valve covers too !! ...... oh i got to put my gear drive in too .... its a "quiet" one... we will see...lol

next ill be looking for ALL the front dress off a 5.o Explorer ... will need everything to do the swap ... i know Dave has or used to have what i needed to do all that with ....

but now... im also looking for some caliper mounting brackets ... like off a earlier Cobra with 15" wheels... i got 3 COMPLETE sets of rear disks off of Crown Vic's ... plus i got 2 sets off the Crown Vic's they use here for Police cars .... its nice to have connections at the City Barn (City Shop) ......lol

I can't recall exactly what it was, but it might have been a Duplicolor brand. I know I've used that in the past. If I find the can downstairs, I'll pay attention to exactly what it is and report back.

...again if I remember.

im also looking for a instrument cluster WITH a tach .... mine dont have one ... it needs to be WAY cheap to free right now... i got $1.00 in the bank at the moment ... i got plenty of them for a 89 to 92 but not one for my 96 and i have looked in 9 yards here and all i can find are the ones WITHOUT a tach ....

Sure not free but got to expand your search. Just about any late model Ranger/ Explorer w/a tach will work. Good write up here on what and how to do it. I like the silver faced ones from the '03' Ranger.

Dave I lifted the whole motor bout 3/4 of an inch to gain clearance for oil Pan the stepped plate is passenger side it can only go one way to work and hit the motor mount I'd have to go look at mine to remember which way that is.

Malcolm haven't got to drive it yet had some Ecu issues and it ended up being junk so I bought another one waiting to get it.

That's about what I expected. I seem to have gotten confused doing those drawings and got the passemger side flipped down instead of up. A simple plate with a spacer would have worked as I said. All my mistake, sorry.
