There's a lot of good historical info on v8 swaps in here so board is back on for people to search.

What happened to it for so long?

I let things lapse. It came up for renewal, server, network costs etc. I figured oh well everybody's on facebook or instagram now days anyways this can go away. Overtime I got bugged by people looking for it. Likely just a few but figured oh well, re-activated it.
It's hard to judge as just about everything you want to know about a v8 swap can be found here so not a lot of questions get posted. You can search, dig and find what you want and carry on.

That's true.

The EECTuning.org forum has A LOT of lurkers that search for what they want, read, use the info, and never ask a question or even create an account.

I just wish phpBB gave better visibility into the number of passive views.

Yeah there's not a lot of info in the forum. I've looked at the apache logs and even ran them through some analyzers like Webalizer etc. which helps but you really can't differentiate real traffic from random traffic in a lot of instances. There are some exceptions but a lot of unknown.
