Sounds like you had a really good time with it Malcolm. If you'd rather have the newer style tail housing, I have the one I took off of my '93 tranny when I installed the transfer case adapter. I also have the main shaft that I pulled out of it. This stuff has been sitting around here for the last 4 years, so I'm pretty sure I'll never use it. Email me if you want it, and I'll hook you up.

If it makes you feel any better, I had to make that same modification on my transfer case adapter I paid $800 for. I wasn't happy about that, but it had to be done to fit the thing on there. It apparently didn't cause me any problems, as the transmission has always worked fine.

: I finally got everything back in the tranny this weekend and I go to put on the tailhousing and no matter how I do it I can't figure out how the 5th/reverse brake tab is supposed to fit. After searching around I find there are actually two different kinds of tailhousings. Who ever had my tranny and broke the tailhousing put the older kind on and just snapped the tab off the 5th/reverse brake to close it up. That explains why reverse grated unless I eased it in real easy before I pulled the tranny.

: Anyhow instead of finding another tailhousing I got out the angle grinder, die grinder and a few others. 10 minutes later my tailhousing looks much like the newer style. Got it all closed up.

: While I had it apart I replaced the top cover with the pre 94 style that has a neutral switch since I have a 92 ECC that looks for it. I was missing one little pin for the neutral switch so I'll only get the tranny reinstalled later in the week.

: Later
: Malcolm
