The V8 that I'm putting in my ranger is from a 99 explorer and it has those black tubes that run the whole length of the engine for connecting the heater hoses. Can anybody explain to me why the tubes also have vaccum lines that run to the intake manifold. I guess that they have something to do with the operation of the heater. There is another valve in line with one of the heater hoses that looks like it relates to the temperature contol inside the cab. I honestly don't see why the intake manifold doesn't just fill up with water with a setup like this.
I ask because I am trying to get rid of the black tubes and just use longer heater hoses, but I want to make sure that I hook everything up right. Right now I don't even understand how the original stuff on the motor worked.
