I put a C6 in my 85 and it's unbelievably strong! (and heavy). When I put it in evryone here (in Kitchener, Ontario) thought I was nuts. All I heard was "it's so much easier with a C4 or a manual...", but that's why I did it. The challenge of getting it in there by bashing the trans tunnel a bit was worth it just to tell my nosey neighbour that he has no idea what really works in these trucks! As my buddy once told me "it'll pull Christ out of Heaven" :)

I have a C6 in my 1988 Ranger and no issues more than the C4. I had a C6, C4, AOD side by side at one time and I thought the AOD was as big as the C6. Different rear spline on the C6. You have to bash the trans tunnel on the drivers side to clear the C4, as far as I remember the C6 fit into this bashed spot. I have heard that the C6 is less efficient, but trans rebuild, power build-ups are not cheap, the clutches in a C4 fit inside a C6 clutches. I thought that for my limited $$ the C6 would be there for me at the end of the day(500HP/Torque).

: For what it's worth the Ford 9" is said to be less efficient than a 8.8" etc. I went with a 9". The elimation of "C" Clips is not easy and the C Clip Eliminator kits are trouble.

: : Every ranger site says that a C6 tranny will not work I have a C6 tranny in my 96 and it was no problem. But I also have a 3in. body lift.
