I only have some exterior views of the adapter, but I'm posting one so you can see what it looks like. The rear portion of the adapter (the round part with the AA stamp on it) is the portion that shouldn't have any fluid in it. There is a short spud shaft that is held in by a bearing in the front of the housing. The flat part on the AA housing is where the transmission mount goes, and where my mysterious leak appears. I get fluid dripping from the transmission mount bolts, but it doesn't appear to be draining from anywhere, just down the bolts. As you can see, the bolts don't go into the housing, so it can't be coming from there. The only thing I can figure is the casting must not be fluid proof. Apparently there are flaws in the casting that allow fluid to drain through. I did find a small defect inside the housing in front of where the bearing sits and I wiped a little RTV into it just in case, but I'm not so sure that's the problem. AA supplied the sheilded bearing with the kit, so I figured it was supposed to be that way. There was also a black paper gasket that goes between the tailshaft housing and the adapter housing. I took that off and found fluid had been seeping behind that, so I put plenty of RTV on both sides of that gasket when I put it back together. I was going to remove it altogether, but when I put the cases together, the shafts bottomed out slightly before the cases went together, so I figured it must be for spacing. This particular problem cost me a blown transmission after my truck sat in the paint shop leaking fluid for a year. I suppose I should have checked everything, but it's just a small nuisance leak, and I just didn't think to check the gearbox fluid until it was too late. I needed to change the clutch and hydraulic setup anyway, so no biggie I guess. Of course, it would have been much nicer if I didn't have to spend $700 on transmission parts. ($200 of that was the lower overdrive gear from D&D performance.) If you're reading this Blk87, don't buy that gear because it doesn't work with our main shaft. I had the toolmakers at work turn the teeth off of my old driven gear and turn the splines out of my new driven gear and press the two together so I could use the set. If it doesn't hold up, I'll be going back in soon to replace that with the old setup I had if I can get another driven gear from AA. I think it's just a Jeep part anyway though, so it shouldn't be a problem. Sorry for the long post. Guess I got carried away. :D

: Do either of you have pictures of your setup and where the bearing goes. I'm very curious to see what you guys are fighting.

: Thanks
