I'm not certain I understand what your describing but if your going to weld new bearing ends on this is a precision job, not for the faint of heart. I had a machine shop do this for me on my narrowed 9" and I could have added disk or drum brakes if I wanted. A 9" is a snap to add disks too. Just bolt a bracket to the 4 bolt flange and have a little longer axles.

: Ok being that I have a mustang that has the 8.8 RE and disc brakes, I got an idea that may or may not help others in converting from drum to disc. Basically what would be involved is to cut the ends of the RE tubes off of an 8.8 that comes with disc brakes and weld them on to the 8.8 that has drums. This will alow for bolting up the brakets(any position you desire based on how you weld on the tube ends) and allow for bolting on the Mustang calipers and discs. Weather or not the Rangers e-brake cables will work, dont know may or may not need custom cables.

: Its just an idea. Whatcha think?
