Malcolm,
You say that the new, replaced first gear is a 3.35 ratio. That seems to me like that is the standard ratio T-5, not the Cobra trans. ratio which is 2.95 that comes with tapered roller bearings. The standard trans uses roller bearings. Might want to contact Tony down in Florida at Astro Performance who has a lot of history on T-5's behind strong Mustangs.

Think that one of the latest Mustang magazines just listed the new Tremec TKO 500 listed at $1550. Still only a 5 speed but you can keep your existing setup and design both the gear ratios and shifter locat1on.
