I was completely unaware that spiders were meant to look like that in the 8.8s. That's news to me. My 7.5" doesn't look that way so I guess my experience was working against me on this one...

As for the run out, I have no clue what values are good and bad, however I agree it sounds excessive.

I am very interested to hear how the 3.27s work out. I've all but talked myself into those just because the 3.73s along with a 3.35 1st gear in the T5 just seem like you aren't getting a 5-speed tranny, but rather an effective 4-speed with a granny.

Any higher than a 3.27, and the 5th gear is in danger of becoming useless below 70-80MPH. Factory ratios generally focus on getting into 5th around 45MPH, but 5th is still good down to around 40ish. However, I don't mind if 5th isn't usable until around 55. I do a good bit of interstate driving so that's more than a livable tradeoff if 3.27s will get me a usable 1st AND a few extra MPGs at cruising.

Once you get this worked out, I'm interested to hear what kind of fuel economy it gets on everyday driving (not lead-footin’ it).

Chris
