: It sure sounded like in the MPG that you make of the 5th gears, that THAT was the noise you were getting at running speeds. However the noise was coming from the front, not the rear.

Yes I'm confused. It almost has to be something with the 5th gear setup because that's the gear I get all the noise in. Well that and neutral at high speed. However even in neutral those two 5th gears are spinning just the same.

: Back to square 1? Or do you have any other ideas and findings that have given you new direction?

I guess back to square 1. I pulled the bell housing, pressure plate and clutch disk last night. Can't find anything out of the ordinary. Oh and here's a lesson learned for you. I spent over 3 hours scruggling to get that bell housing out. The bolts come out just fine. However when I went to remove it there was no space. Now that the headers are installed the passanger's side header wraps around a little making it almost impossible to get it out. What I needed was to bang in the trans tunnel a little up on the driver's side to create clearance. Of course with the bell housing in the way that was no easy task. So moral of the story? After intalling your bell housing loosely install your headers and make sure you can get the bell housing out.

: Unfortunately, when it comes to the innerds of a tranny, I'm pretty useless.

Apparently me too :)

I was thinking of wrigging up some sort of electrical motor to spin the tranny on the work bench while I have the top cover and some other parts of it off. Might give me a better idea as to what's not right.

I mean you heard that noise from the tranny in the mpeg right? It sounds like something's just floppying around super loose yet everything in there is tight. Well everything but that 5th drive gear but I'm told that's normal. Baffles me.

Later
Malcolm
